Enabling Online Registration
Online registration lets competitors sign up and pay from their own devices instead of you typing every entry by hand. Registration is tied to your tournament's published status: a draft tournament is invisible to the public, and publishing it opens registration automatically.
Publishing opens registration
When you click Publish Tournament, your event appears on its public page and in the tournament directory, and registration opens at the same time. There is no separate "enable registration" step for a new tournament — publish and you're live.
Zero credits required to open: Registrations are accepted regardless of your credit balance. Credits are only needed later, when you approve competitors.
Opening and closing manually
After publishing, you can pause registration at any time without unpublishing the tournament. In the Tournament Manager, use the Close Registration / Open Registration control. Closing registration keeps your public page visible — competitors just can't submit new entries. This is useful when you hit venue capacity or want to freeze the roster before generating brackets.
Registration deadline
Set a Registration Deadline when creating the tournament or later under Settings → Tournament Info. Once the deadline passes, new online registrations are rejected automatically — no manual action needed. Leave the deadline blank if you prefer to close registration by hand.
What competitors see
Competitors reach your registration page from the public tournament page's Register Now button. The funnel walks them through:
- Sign in or create an account — every registration is tied to a user account.
- Competitor details — first and last name, date of birth, gender, weight, belt rank, years of experience, and club/dojo.
- Event selection — your events appear as cards with names and prices. As events are selected, a sticky footer updates the subtotal.
- Review and pay — a cart summary lists each selected event and its price, with a field for a discount code if you've created one.
- Confirmation — a success screen confirms the registration and lists the entered events.

Payment options
- Online payment (Stripe) — the default. Competitors pay by card when they register; funds go to your connected account.
- Pay later — if you enable pay-later in your tournament settings, competitors can register without paying online and settle in cash or by another method at the venue. Their entry is flagged as payment due so your check-in staff can collect.
- Waived — you can mark individual entries as waived (free) from the manager, useful for staff family, special guests, or scholarship entries.
Tip: Pay-later registrations still consume one credit each when you approve them — the credit system is independent of how competitors pay you.
